Wow!! What a weekend, I do believe everyone who participated had a great time. We did an amazing job at raising the funds. I want to take this opportunity to thank all my helpers. My husband who supported and helped in my desire to made a difference. My father who put in just as many hours as I did during the weekend, my Mom who helped out in many ways and was at the event during the weekend, my Uncle Lawrence who put in hours over the weekend as well. To all my volunteers to whom I could not have made the weekend go as well as it did without them. My husband Jeff, my kids (Nick and Taylor), Aiden, Fiona, Dave, Jim and Joanne, Habib and Michael (Michael is profiled on my about the cause page) who played a huge part in fundraising, his team Michael's Flaming Hawks raised well over $6,000 and thanks to him, we have great photos of the event. His team was made up of many coaches from the Leitrim Minor Hockey Organization thank you coaches and the majority of my Volunteers are from the Blackburn Minor Hockey Association. (Minor Hockey Rocks)!!
A huge thank you to Robin Lynch who not only played on a team during the event, being the webmaster, he kept the site up to date to ensure all teams knew the standings as they happened. I had a huge amount of compliments on this site and its all thanks to him.
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all those that have made this tournament a success! We have doubled our projected goal and have raised over $21,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. We gave the Cancer Foundation a little under $18,000 and kept the balance for start up costs for the 2010 tournament. It was a great success and I hope to double it next year.
Money was raised through team donations, corporate sponsors and from both our 50/50 draw and silient auction on many donated items. Heading the team donations was Michael's Flaming Hawks who raised over $6000! A record to beat for next year's tournament...
Note: The winner of the 50/50 has generously asked to put the money into the amount raised. Thank you Jen.
